How to get to the island of Pag?
The island of Pag, with its oblong shape, stretches along the northern and middle part of the Croatian coast. One of the interesting things, that not everyone knows, is that precisely because of this specific shape, the island is divided into two counties - the northern part of the island belongs to Lika-Senj county, while the southern part of the island belongs to Zadar County. Even more interesting is the fact that the border between the two counties passes right through the world-famous Zrće beach.
The island is easily accessible from several sides and using different transport routes:
- the island is connected to the mainland by the 301 m long Pag Bridge, which is half an hour away from the city of Zadar - one of the most beautiful Croatian ancient Mediterranean coastal cities with a rich cultural and historical heritage and an old city
- by ferry from Prizna, which runs every 30 minutes in the summer months to Žigljen on the island of Pag, and the ride itself only takes about 15 minutes
- by catamaran from Rijeka, which is the third largest city in Croatia. Departures from Rijeka to the city of Novalja are in the afternoon, while the return from Novalja to Rijeka is every day in the early morning.
Zadar airport is only 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Novalja, while Split airport is 2 hours and 30 minutes drive away. Zagreb airport is located a little further, 3 hours and 30 minutes by car.
